my story

HEYY! Im Milan McMichael and I am a sports photographer at Kent State University for Kent State Athletics! from anything to basketball to gymnastics I am your girl! I am currently a Junior at Kent State University majoring in public relations and minoring in photography.

I have had a passion for photography since the 9th grade when my art teacher made us take pictures on our phones and urged us to be creative. Soon enough I was so interested in photography that my parents blessed me with my first Nikon camera. I began this as a hobby early in high-school not taking it seriously until people around me started to praise the work I show them. I had pride in my work and continued to have a camera in my hand starting with landscape, then portraits and then eventually my high-school basketball games.

I played volleyball growing up all throughout high-school and my family was very sports-oriented, mixing my two passions together was a recipe for greatness. I kept taking pictures during my volleyball practices, watching YouTube videos on how to perfect my photography as I learned and upgraded my surroudneings and gear I kept falling more and more in love with telling athletes stories because I wish someone documented my high-school stories.
